Nicole Richie’s papa Lionel is going public with his support of his wayward daughter. Maybe he’s getting all squishy at the prospect of becoming a Grampa, or maybe he really doesn’t see that Nic has made a big ol’ mess of things.

From US Magazine:

“My daughter has made some mistakes in her life and has accepted responsibility for her actions,” Lionel tells Usmagazine.com. “She has not blamed others for her problems and is growing up very quickly, albeit in the heat of the media spotlight. “

And I’m sure Lionel is relieved that Nicole is being all responsible and not blaming others. Because you know those screwed up kids of celebrities always point the heavily medicated finger at their famous parents.

Lionel Richie is so concerned about his adopted daughter Nicole Richie’s dramatic weight loss over the last two years, that he took her to see a doctor.

“I stood in front of [the doctor], just like you and I now, looked him in the eyes, and I said ‘Is it anorexia?’ And he said ‘It isn’t anorexia,’” Lionel told MSNBC.

I guess he is so happy with the answer that now he is blaming the media for making her look skinnier (like she isn’t shokingly thin already!): “Many times, they manipulate pictures of her,” he says. “She’s shown me the difference between the original and what’s published in the newspaper. They make her look much worse.”

He also added that he believes her weight loss is stress related, caused by his divorce from her mom and all the media attention:
“I live with the constant fear that Nicole is going to become the next Princess Diana,” Richie said. “Just to give an example of how crazy everything has become, I always know when Nicole is on her way home because she is always followed by a helicopter and seven cars. It’s harassment.”

He must not be in his right mind… who the heck would compare Nicole Richie to Princess Di?

Lionel Richie, the famous 80’s singer, spoke to Access Hollywwod about his daughter’s weight loss: "I’ll be honest with you, it hurts me more than it hurts her," Richie said in an interview "I must tell you, I’m the basket case."

Lionel’s daughter, Nicole Richie, whose only fame comes from her father’s name and having co-starred with her friend Paris Hilton in the 2003 reality show The Simple Life, has lost so much weight during the last few years that she is now a size zero. After her ordeal with drugs a while back, some of us are wondering if she’s back on the juice.

To be sincere, it wouldn’t surprise me… she may be rich and pretty, but she’s dumb as a rock, and I wouldn’t put it past her to be getting high right now as I write this.
